How To Set up Your League
| |
What do I need to start up a pool League? How do I do it?
Here you will find some of the answers to help with the guidelines to start up
a pool league and help to run it successfully. |
| |
|
Pick a convenient night of the week on which the league would compete.
Is it an 8-Ball or 9-Ball League?
Traveling or in-house league.
Print & distribute flyers advertising the upcoming league, starting dates
and sign-up party.
Elect the officer of the league such as President, VP, Secretary, etc...
Number of the officer should be and odd number to break the tie breaker.
From the sign-up party you can determine the number of players.
Determine the number of teams, and how many players on each team? 3, 4, 5
players.
Maximum number of player on each team
Each team should be designated by a number or a letter to do the
schedule.
Determine the formats you play, is it
3, 4, 5 games per
night per player.
Start up time should be around 7 PM and end around 10 PM.
Handicap your
league.
Rules of play which rules is it BCA or our own?
Weekly fees how much?
Distribution of prize money should be posted and a copy given to each team
captain.
Misbehavior & Misconduct rules.
All players fees or weekly dues should be turned in by noon next day.
|
| |
Here some of the problems that the league will experience
during the league season and the solutions to resolve these problems. |
| |
|
Teams that do show up
| |
They forfeit the match and pay the other team weekly fees and lose all the
rounds points. Individuals will not be credited for these games (win, loss,
& points)but the team will receive their average. |
Teams or players that do not pay the proper weekly fees dues.
| |
Penalize each team certain amount of money such as $5.00 weekly penalty
until they pay. |
Teams that sign up, but never start.
| |
Drop them off the schedule and try to replace with another team |
Teams that threaten to quit over a protest
| |
Apply the rules that you have written in your league by-laws or the league
rules. If the incident is not covered in your rules then have team captain and
the league officers meeting to discuss the matter and decide on the best
solution for the league. |
Teams are "too good" for the rest of the league.
| |
Make sure you adjust the
handicapping
system after the session is over, but do not change in the middle of the
season. Make sure all players are aware of the changes for the next
session. |
